Felix of the Silent Forest [One of 25 Copies]
New York: Poets Press, 1967. First, Limited Edition. One of only 25 hand-bound hardcover copies signed by Henderson, from a total edition of 2000. Square octavo (21cm x 17cm); brown bookcloth, titled in gilt on front cover; [48]pp. Fine – an as-new copy.
Henderson's first commercially-published collection, and a landmark work of the Black Arts Movement, for which Henderson was the major moving force and which this book in a sense announced. Henderson would go on to found and edit Umbra, the de-facto organ of the movement. The current work is scarce even in the trade edition – we have never before handled (nor do we expect to handle again) this exceedingly uncommon limited issue. BLOCKSON 5244.
