Publisher's pebble grain cloth titled in gilt to spine and front board. 921pp. A trifle bumped to spine ends, hinges strong, tight and solid, the bookcloth used is a sort of unusual black crepe texture, and in a couple of spots on the front and rear board it has flaked slighly; internally clean and fresh, errata leaf and portrait present, inscribed by the author to the front pastedown:
"Presented to Judge F.P. Christian by The Author. L.P. Summers, Aug. 16 -06"
A very good copy, inscribed to one of the patriarchs of an influential family line, long established in Lynchburg, VA.
