Strong and solid, darkened to the spine with some rubbing and bumping to spine ends and corners, a few light spots and scrapes elsewhere; internally clean, yellow coated endpapers, old ownership to front flyleaf, frontispiece with tissue guard and folding map to prelims, illustrated throughout with some light spotting in places, mostly marginal. A very good, handsome and solid copy.

One of the most prominent and widely read sensationalist excoriations of Mormonism, presented very clearly as a dangerous cult, but with a distinctly yellow journalism slant focussed heavily on the Polygamy aspect. Produced with a great deal of early conspiracy theory energy and verve.
