One of Fast's "Patriotic" historical novels of the Thirties, which were in fact attempts to reinterpret great events in American history through a left-wing progressive (if not explicitly Socialist) lens. Fast would later (in 1943) join the Communist Party, and was blacklisted through most of the 40's and 50's. 88563.
