Oblong octavo (26.5cm x 8.5cm); illustrated sheets, saddle stapled into pictorial boards at left edge, with the spine covered in yellow cloth tape; [40]pp; illus.; text is entirely in French. Inscribed by the author on the title page to American artist Ben Shahn: "Ben! Happy Birthday! from Andre / Eleanor! / & Nicky!" Faint foxing to covers, preliminary, and terminal leaves, with a few stray ink stains along upper edge of front cover, and light hand-soil to the tape spine; Very Good+. A well-preserved copy of this classic children's book, which takes young readers on a humorous stroll along the Nile with the titular crocodile. Uncommon inscribed. 88341.
