Limited Edition, one of 1200 copies, of which this is No. 146 and signed by Polk, with an additional inscription: "To Geoffrey Holder my admiration for all you have accomplished which have furthered black America culture P.H. Polk". Quarto (32cm); brown cloth spine over oatmeal cloth-covered boards with titling stamped in gilt on spine, and artist's facsimile signature stamped in gilt on front cover; publisher's cloth slipcase with artist's facsimile signature stamped in gilt; [8],9-111,[1]pp; black-and-white photographic (halftone) illustrations throughout. Graduate of Tuskegee Institue, and later head of their photography department, shares this collection of photographs of African American subjects in Tuskegee, Alabama from 1929-1958. Concludes with Pearl's essay focused on Polk and the impact of his works, and an index of photographs with dates and individuals' names. This copy inscribed by the artist to renown Trinidadian-American actor, dancer, and musician, Geoffrey Holder. [88188].
