A very good, handsome copy.
A very handsome example of Edward Evans fascinating history of legal actions and punishment brought against animals for crimes against humanity. Evans was a committed vegetarian and animal rights campaigner whose work was in part directed at providing a niche history lesson in Medieval punishments for criminal farmyard animals, but was mainly concerned with pointing out the rather ridiculous and irrational nature of our relationship with domestic animals, religion, and the long held but deeply dubious idea that an animal can commit a pre-meditated crime.
