Excellent association copy of Levine's memoir, covering his years of experience as a foreign correspondent in the Soviet Union and Europe during the Cold War. Levine, born in Russia, was a staunch anticommunist; he was one of the western journalists who helped to expose Stalin's purges and took an active role in uncovering communist influences in the U.S. State Department during the 1950s Red Scare. Toledano (1916-2007), though a Socialist in his youth, became a leading right-wing commentator after WW2; he co-founded, with Levine, the conservative journal Plain Talk in 1946; later he moved onto the editorial staff of the National Review and became a key figure in Richard Nixon's political circle.
