The FBI Nobody Knows

New York: Macmillan, 1964. Stated Fourth Printing. Octavo. 21.5cm. Publisher's dark blue cloth titled in gilt to spine. Dustjacket. 436pp. Minor Wear to board edges and spine ends in a bright, good looking priceclipped dustjacket with some sunning to the spine panel, light chipping and los to spine ends and some cosmetic creasing and wear. A very good copy. Internally clean, bookplate of Jan and Bob Shutan to front flyleaf which in all likelihood refers to the Hollywood showbiz couple, Jan Shutan being a regular small character actress on shows like Star Trek, The Andy Griffith Show, The Fugitive etc. Fore-edge untrimmed.

Cook was a veteran investigative reporter with a fiercely combative eye regarding misuse of Government powers and corruption, his exposé of Hoover's FBI, coupled with the repeated point that the FBI had been downright unconstitutional at various points in the 50's and 60's and had been used as a private domestic espionage agency made this a rather incendiary work upon publication.
