A temperance tract, originally published in St. Louis, 1874. The original was issued under the authorship of "Rev. C.B. Holding, Sold by Thomas Soper, for His Benefit"; this version omits Holding's name; supplies Soper's name as author on title page and omits both date and the initials "C.B.H." at end of Preface. Preface states that the book was sold "to furnish means for the support of one [i.e., Soper] deprived of sight from early infancy." WRIGHT II:1223 (note).
