A pedagogical pamphlet for secondary school readers, written by Schachtman while head of the youth arm of the Workers Party of America (which would change its name to Communist Party U.S.A. in 1929), a relatively brief interval between about 1925 and Schachtman's expulsion from the Party in 1928. In 1934, the Young Communist League published a revised version of this pamphlet, keeping the title but replacing Schachtman's name with the pseudonym "Al Steele."
