[Item #63503] Strange Altars. Marcus BACH.

Strange Altars

New York: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1952. First American Edition. 8vo. 22.5cm x 15.5cm. Publisher's originial bottle green cloth. Dustjacket. Titled and decorated in gilt to spine and front boards, strong and bright with some light bumping to extremities, in a clean, colourful pictorial dustjacket with some edgewear, light soiling and a couple of closed tears, most notably to the upper inch of the front flap hinge. A very good, handsome copy. 254pp. Internally clean. Fore-edge untrimmed. Bach's rather intrusive investigation into the secrets of Haitian "voodoo", and his association with the rather bizarre character of Stanley "Doc" Reser "The only white man to be entrusted with the secrets of this primitive faith." Pinch of salt not supplied. [63503].
