Reddish brown cloth stamped in gilt, top edge gilt, stamped "Redan Windham" on front board; black coated endpapers; [xii],272pp; 3pp publisher's ads at front; frontispiece portrait, black and white in-text illustrations. Large color bookplate of Leslie of Kininvie to front pastedown. Cloth stained black on spine with further discoloration to boards, both hinges cracked but sound, internally clean: around Very Good.
Windham commanded one of two lead British brigades in the third offensive of the Battle of the Great Redan, a major battle in the 1855 Siege of Sevastopol, and received considerable praise in the British press. [62277].
