A lively first-person memoir of experiences as an Army wife on the Frontier and then the Spanish-American War, including residences in Santiago de Cuba and Manila. Mrs. Sargent, daughter of a first-generation Oregon pioneer, was the spouse of Col. Herbert H. Sargent, 5th Infantry commander in the Philippines and noted military historian. Infrequent in commerce and apparently overlooked in bibliographies.
