Anthology of poems chosen to "...present an adequate collection of English and American poems illustrative of the growth of the revolutionary ideal – national, social, and intellectual – during the past hundred years." Salt (1852-1939) was a noted British social reformer, probably best-remembered as an early advocate of animal rights. The collection includes works by Ernest Jones, Ebenezer Elliott, Whitman, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt, Walter Crane, Edward Carpenter, many others.
