Halftone plates and text illustrations. A scarce West Virginia local history, self-published by Miss Pugh, who describes herself in the introduction: "Like many of my name I have remained single and perhaps, like them, not from lack of romance or natural attachments but from circumstances. Life is not what we make it. We are creatures of circumstance. My life has been blessed with useful activities and has been and is rich in friends, both men and women."
