Pictorial card wrappers (softcover), decorated with map of San Francisco, as issued; 240pp. Slight tear on upper right corner of front cover, curling slightly. A few minor stains at the bottom of pages 46-52, otherwise a very good copy.

Tales of the City was first published in serialized form in the San Francisco Chronicle; it grew into 8 more novels, became a PBS mini-series in the 1990s (inspiring rightwing outrage), and inspired a 2019 mini-series. Tales of the City mainstreamed queer culture in popular fiction; in this novel, the central character, Anna Madrigal, is revealed to be trans. This edition was the first appearance of Tales of the City in book form, and it is infrequently seen in commerce.
