Saint Peter Relates an Incident: Selected Poems
New York: Viking Press, 1935. First Edition. First printing. Octavo; black cloth hardcover; dustjacket; deep red topstain; 105pp. Hint of darkening to endpaper gutters from binding adhesive, still a tight, clean, fine copy, the top-stain deep and even, free of markings or notable wear. In the original printed dustwrapper, unclipped (priced $2.00 on front flap), minutely chipped at crown of spine and with a couple of small closed nicks to extremities; Very Good to Near Fine.
A very pleasing copy of Johnson's first volume of Selected Poems, taken mostly from Fifty Years and Other Poems (1917) but also including a number of previously unpublished pieces. The title poem, "Saint Peter Relates an Incident of the Resurrection Day," was previously issued by Viking in an edition of 200 copies (1930).
