Uncommon publisher's advertising broadside, reproducing one of Feelings' illustrations for his celebrated 1968 collaboration with Julius Lester. The book, which sensitively explores the realities of American slavery for young readers, was a Newberry Honor medalist and was named Smithsonian Magazine's "Book of the Year" for 1968; long considered a cornerstone work of multicultural children's literature, it has remained in print for more than 50 years.
