Signed by the author on the title page, and inscribed to Puerto Rican editor, translator, and literary critic Roberto Marquez and his family on the half-title page: "For Roberto, Maddie & "Waddo" / Love Andrew / 12.5.1976." Light wear to extremities, some trivial dustiness to wrappers, with a ew faint creases to same; Very Good+ to Near Fine. The noted Jamaican-Panamanian author's first collection of short stories, describing "the complex "score" concerning Anancy's history, character and development, in twenty original contemporary tales of his own very special making. In doing so, he also reminds us that the great traditional folk story hero, Anancy, is both African and Caribbean, and is capable of withstanding not only adaptation but also creative reinterpretation" (from rear wrapper). Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings by Jamaican artist Errol Lloyd. Uncommon inscribed.
