Straight and tight, very lightly rubbed at extremities, with small pencil erasure to f.f.e.p.: Near Fine. Jacket unclipped (priced $3.00), spine faded, rubbed at edges with two inch-long tears to rear and a few shorter tears at edges, large chip at base of spine, but clean: Very Good. The sixth published Hornblower novel, written as a prequel to other volumes in the series. The US first edition, published in March, preceded the May UK edition by only two months.
