Square and tight, with slight dustiness to top edge, small erasures and bookplate to front endpapers, else Near Fine. Jacket unclipped (priced 18s) and whole, lightly rubbed along edges, minor browning at flap folds: Very Good or better.

Murdoch's fifth novel, a satire about marriage, adultery, and incest among well-to-do Londoners. Adapted for the stage in 1963, and made into a 1970 film starring Claire Bloom, Lee Ann Remick, Richard Attenborough, and Ian HOlm.
