New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1931. First Edition. First printing. Small octavo (20cm). Plum cloth, titled in gilt on spine and front cover; dustjacket; 177pp. Mild offsetting from jacket flaps to endpapers; faint foxing to prelims; Near Fine. In the original dustwrapper, issued without a printed price on flap; lightly dusted, a shade faded on spine, still an uncommonly nice, Near Fine example.
A "country-comes-to-town" comedy, This is New York opened on Broadway in 1930, starring Lois Moran. It ran for only 59 performances and is not counted among Sherwood's better efforts. Still, it was adapted for the 1932 William C. DeMille film Two Kinds of Women, starring Miriam Hopkins and Phillips Holmes. An uncommonly nice copy.
