John Gould is primarily known as an ornithologist, whose research supported Darwin's development of the theory of evolution. In addition to numerous famous works on birds, he published The Mammals of Australia (1849-1861, 3 vols) following an 1838-40 research trip. Hill House collaborated with the British Museum (Natural History) in the 1990s to produce luxurious, full-size, color facsimiles of Gould's books, in editions of 500 or fewer copies. This volume features kangaroos and wallabies.
