Stapled pamphlet in green paper wraps, printed in black; 118,[10]pp; ten pages of illustrated ads at rear for medicines, periodicals, perfumes, and photography, and ads to rear cover for perfume and whiskey. Facsimile letter printed inside front wrap from the Postmaster, stating that this text is "not entitled to circulation in the mails on the ground that [it] is of an indecent character." Whole, with partial split to paper over spine, one or two small chips to edges, slight soil to wraps but internally clean: Very Good.

Very early American reprint. Dated July 15, 1890, thus later than the two translations published in June. The title was briefly banned from circulating through the U.S. mail, before the ban was struck down in court the same year. LINE, ETTLINGER & GLADSTONE Tolstoy 74.
