In original green paper-covered boards, printed in black, sympathetically rebacked with light brown cloth; plain endpapers; 90, 2pp; ads to rear board. With numerous contemporary ink inscriptions to endpapers, including a note about the birth of a child in 1842. A straight copy with general moderate wear to boards, front board much scuffed, internally rubbed and foxed, but sound: Good or better.

A guide to emigrating to the American midwest, with "a concise but accurate view of the principal places, routes and distances, in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, together with a brief description of the soil and climate, prices of lands, and the leading considerations that should direct the emigrant in making his location" (4).
