In brick-red publisher's cloth, stamped in blind on boards and titled in gilt on spines, variant of Baker & Ross binding B; yellow coated endpapers; 4pp of ad leaves at rear of vol. III; vol. I: [iv], 303pp; vol II: [iv], 290pp; [iv], 283, [1], [1]-4pp. With the embossed ownership mark of "W. H Smith & Son Library" on front free endpaper of vol. I. An appealing copy, mildly cocked and rubbed at edges, with two or three small stains to cloth; internally clean, gathering K in vol. III pulled but holding, overall: Very Good.

The binding largely corresponds to Baker & Ross binding B, but with a different cloth color, and with "W BLACKWOOD" instead of "BLACKWOOD" in the imprint; for a description of a similar copy, see Baker & Ross p. 232. BAKER & ROSS A8.1. SADLEIR 814.
