Hutchinson and prominent Bay Area civil rights activist Dr. Roy Nichols); testimonials from such figures as Martin Luther King, Jr., Wilmont Sweeney, and Jeffery Cohelan; and a 2-pp biography highlighting Rev. Stovall's accomplishments in the pastoral, civic, and civil rights fields. Earlier that year Stovall, meeting with Martin Luther King in Oakland, co-founded and was named vice-president of the Western Christian Leadership Council, formed to provide support for King's SCLC and the ongoing school integration and voter registration drives in the South.
