L'oeuvre littéraire de John Henry Mackay. Texte français et notes de E. Armand

Paris: "Amis d'E. Armand], 1950. First Edition. 12mo (19cm). Pictorial paper wrappers consisting of folded sheets, unstapled as issued; 24pp. Cover portrait of Mackay by F. Cotard. Tight, clean copy; minute chips to extremities, else about Fine in original wrappers. One thousand copies printed, "edition réservée aux 'Amis d'E. Armand.'"

This appears to be a loose translation of Riley's bio-bibliographical essay on Mackay, "New England Anarchism in Germany," which first appeared in the New England Quarterly in March 1945. The translation is by the noted French individualist anarchist Émile Armand (1907-1964). Interestingly, Armand seems to eliminate any reference to the influence of Benjamin Tucker on Mackay's work, thus rather altering the central thesis of Riley's original essay. Text entirely in French.
