A Sermon Delivered at the Ordination of the Rev. Thomas M. Smith as Pastor of the Chapel Church and Society in Portland, Me. July 31, 1822

Boston: Lincoln & Edmands, [1822]. First Edition. Octavo (20cm.); removed; 26pp. Light spotting, else Very Good and sound. Sermon by the Calvinist minister arguing that "The office of the first propagators of Christianity is here represented as a /warfare/; and their success is, in the same verse, represented as a /victory/" (p. [3]). Unsurprisingly, this oration delivered while Woods was in the midst of his own religious pamphlet war with Unitarian minister Henry Ware, known as the Wood 'n Ware Controversy, the result of which would be a five-volume debate over the origin of sin and human nature.
