Account of the author's disownment by his meeting at New Bedford, Massachusetts. Though Barton considered himself a true Quaker, he also writes here "I consider that all religious practice is wrong in every case, wherein rules and excitements from without, instead of the principle of light and life in the heart, govern our conduct; and therefore I feel it a duty, to leave all outward societies" (p. 23).
