Large, thick octavo (25.5cm.); publisher's deluxe brown elaborately blind-tooled morocco, gilt-lettered spine, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers; xxxx[sic];512pp.; steel engraved portrait frontispiece, text entirely in German blackletter. Boards rather rubbed with some exposure at corners, pp. 497/8 separated and rather chipped along extremities, though still present and complete, else a Good or better, still internally fresh copy. Contemporary ownership ex libris of the Rev. Geo. Wolff ("Read Thoughtfully: Handle Carefully") to front pastedown, presumably of the Pennsylvania German Reformed Church (later Catholic) clergyman George Dering Wolff (1822-1894). Quite uncommon, Indiana State, U. South Carolina, and Abilene Christian U. only in OCLC as of June, 2020.
