Later edition of this handbook issued by the Society which was founded in 1814 "To provide for the relief and comfort of the indigent sick" (p. [3]). The list of members, many of them marked as deceased, include Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Richard H. Dana, Asa Gray, and Louis Agassiz. AAS only in OCLC as of June, 2020.
