New York: Sept. 22, 1932. Original typed letter, signed, on recto only of embossed United Mine Workers of America letterhead (25x20cm.) with address in Indianapolis, though this letter dated from the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York. Mail folds, very faint soil spot, else Fine.
Approx. 150 words addressed to Gomer T. Davies, long-time editor of the newspaper the Concordia "Kansan," thanking him for his telegram and letter. Lewis notes "I had the misfortune about a week ago to have an attack of food poisoning, which laid me up for a few days, which accounts for my delay in answering your telegram and letter. I am, however, fully recovered...Mother was not so well during the summer months, but is much better the last month of two."
