Paper on the crop pest the Hessian fly (also known as the barley midge) first published in the "American Journal of Agriculture and Science," Vols. IV and V. Asa Fitch, one of the country's first occupational entomologists, went on to describe thirteen new genera and 451 new species during his career, with special emphasis on pest crops (anb.org).
