The author was Executive Secretary of the Alexander Defense Committee, organized in 1965 to advocate on behalf of the "Alexander Eleven," a group of anti-apartheid activists, headed by Neville Alexander, who were imprisoned under South Africa's "Sabotage Act" in 1963.
