Textblock interiors clean; some edges deckled; short tear to margin of pg. 33. Slipcase torn along upper edge; sunned along margins, rubbing and bumps to extremities. Very Good book in Good slipcase.
Two classic juvenile tales of the Catskills from Washington Irving (Dietrich Knickerbocker). This undated, c. 1940's edition from Peter Pauper Press is described in the colophon thus: "Eighteen-hundred and fifty copies set in the Baskerville types have been printed on specially-made Peter Pauper Press paper". OCLC lists a 1943 publication date; Peter Pauper Press also advertised a book fitting the description as a $2 "Collector's Edition" in a 1947 newspaper.
