The Massachusetts Charitable Society, founded in 1762, is a non-profit organization, primarly conceived to manage an endowment for its members, their children and windows. Nowadays, it also provides grants for public services, education, and the arts. This book contains the society charter and by-laws as they stood in 1962; it also features historical data from its founding onward, such as membership rosters, funding records, and minutes of their 1962 bicentennial meeting. With a fold-out reproduction of the original charter, plus two b/w photo-illustrated plates.
