Margaret Oliphant, who wrote under the name "Mrs. Oliphant", was a Scottish novelist particularly noted for her works in the historical and domestic spheres. Old Mr. Tredgold was her final novel and tells a true-to-life tale of a woman and what becomes of her and her spoiled, disinherited sister after their fortunes change with their father's passing. Text is followed by a sixteen-page publisher's advertising supplement; books advertised are in line with the original 1895 publication date.
