Detroit author's fourth stand-alone novel, "a gutsy account of an inner city gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover...He's known as Earl the Black Pearl, and he's up from the ghetto - way up. Goines, deeply influenced by the works of Iceberg Slim, cranked out sixteen novels during his brief literary career; he was found murdered with his common-law wife in their Detroit apartment on October 21, 1974.
