Life of Mahomet; or, The History of That Imposture which was begun, carried on, and finally established by him in Arabia; and which has subjugated a larger portion of the globe, than the religion of Jesus has yet set at liberty. To which is added, an account of Egypt

First American edition of this oft-reprinted anti-Deist polemical tract by Prideaux (1648-1724), which originally appeared in 1697 under the title The true nature of imposture fully display’d in the life of Mahomet. The work was adapted and reprinted frequently, under various titles, throughout the 18th century. This is the first of at least two American editions under this title, though we note an earlier edition (Fairhaven, VT: 1798) under a slightly different title, apparently lacking the "Account of Egypt" (see EVANS 34412). SHAW & SHOEMAKER 2535.
