The novel was successful enough to inspire a sequel, "The Bushrangers" (1866). See DAB 18, p. 448. WRIGHT II 2464. Octavo (19.5cm.); publisher's brown blind-embossed cloth, gilt-lettered spine; 564pp.; frontispiece, three leaves of plates. Boards quite rubbed with exposure at extremities, coin-sized loss of cloth on upper cover, spine a bit cocked, light soil, lacking front free endpaper, hinges rather crudely reinforced, occasional contemporary pencil underlining and marginalia. A Good, sturdy copy, albeit a real "dog."
