The first part is an explication and defense of evolutionary theory; the second part is a rationalist critique of organized religion. The author appears to have been a teacher in Windsor, Connecticut. Cover text suggests that this was intended as the first part of a multi-part work, but we find no evidence that later parts were ever published.
