San Francisco: Free Society Library, 1899. First Edition. Octavo (23cm.); publisher's peach printed staplebound wrappers; 20pp. Light toning and dustiness, else Near Fine. Freethought tract issued by the short-lived anarchist journal the Free Society Library, which appeared irregularly from 1898 to 1900, publishing major works by Kropotkin ("Anarchist Morality," 1898) and Bakunin ("God and the State," 1900). We find little about the author Wallace E. Nevill in contemporary records, though he may very well have been the San Francisco chess champion and author of "Chess-Humanics" (1905). Longa, "Anarchist Periodicals in English Published in the United States," p. 93-4.
