[San Francisco]: National Committee to Defend New Afrikan Freedom Fighters / Fireworks Graphics Collective, 1981. Attractive poster produced by Fireworks Graphics, a Bay Area collective active between the 1970's-1990's, producing artwork in the spirit of people's liberation. The upper half features a striking illustrated portrait of BLA member Mtayari Shabaka Sundiata (1944-1981), next to a silhouette of a dozen armed people, and the following quote: "Every nation has an army. So, power to the people's army. The nation must come to fruition through revolutionary action." Lower half features the outlined map of the Republic of New Afrika (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina), a "nation" proposed by the black nationalist and black separatist organization of the same name. Not found in OCLC, though we note a copy held at the OMCA. Original illustrated poster, offset printed in three colors on semi-glossy white stock, measuring 42.5cm x 54.75cm (16 5/8" x 21 5/8"). A few faint creases to extremities, some trivial surface wear, with a faint patch of tape residue at upper center; unbacked; Very Good+.
