Flint: Bamberger Books, 1993. First, Limited Edition. A late dramatic work by Elmslie (b. 1929), best known as a central figure in the New York East-Side poetry scene of the Sixties, during which time he edited and published Z, the seminal journal of the New York School poets including James Schuyler, Joe Brainerd, John Ashbery et al. The current work – a musical, described in Playbill as "...a surreal show, about a postcard collector who deals with personal loss by seeing postcards come to life" – was produced for the stage in 2000 but ended up being canceled while still in rehearsals. Letter "R" of twenty-six copies, signed, hand-numbered, and with an original postcard collage in rear envelope (the artwork with matching number and signature). Octavo (23cm); pictorial card wrappers; 138pp. Mild corner-crease to final two leaves of text, else a fine, unread copy.
