Hendaye: Imp. Mugalde, n.d., ca. 1970s. Original poster (65x45cm.) printed offset in color on white stock; some general wrinkling, tiny closed tear at bottom edge, else Very Good and sound. Issued by the Basque separatist political party Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA), appropriating a detail from Picasso's anti-fascist painting Guernica, completed in 1937 after the bombing of that Spanish town. The poster reproduces the recumbent figure at the bottom left-hand corner of the painting, here a torrent of blood spilling from his mouth. The publisher and bookstore Mugalde, in the border town of Hendaye, France, was bombed several times in the mid-1970s by the Spanish neofascist group the Anti-Terrorismo ETA [ATE].
