Terre Haute: J.M. Vickroy, 1900. Lithograph in colors; 26" x 21". Laid down on hardboard, removed from later glazed frame. Blank portions for name, date and location unused. Small losses at corners; faint dampstain at lower right margin, else a bright, well-preserved lithograph.
Elaborate lithographed broadside of the type awarded as a "premium" for union membership throughout the late 19th century. Jugate portrait of W.C. Pearce and John Mitchell, surrounded by captioned vignettes depicting the many trials and triumphs of a union miner's life, beginning with a mass-meeting outside the mine and ending with "Pay Day for the Miners, Doctors and Agents." These scenes are contrasted against the luxurious and spacious "Homes of the Operators." Not separately located in OCLC, but a similar example resides in the Library of Congress' Popular Graphics collection.
