The Real Story of a Real Doll

New York: Robert M. McBride, 1929. First Edition. Octavo. Original orange pictorial cloth boards; 116pp; map endpapers. Mild to moderate external rubbing and soil, with a bit of fraying to spine ends; ownership signature, else internally clean, tight, and unmarked. A Very Good copy.

Presentable copy of this somewhat uncommon children's book from the pen of Violet Moore Higgins, a talented cartoonist and illustrator labeled by cartoon historian Alan Holtz as "almost criminally undercelebrated." Higgins drew the 1920s syndicated comic strip "Drowsy Dick," and remained active as a children's illustrator until her death in the mid-1960s.
