[Item #32172] The Honorable Uncle Lancy. Ethel HUESTON.

The Honorable Uncle Lancy

Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1939. First Edition. Octavo. Green cloth boards, lettered in yellow on spine and front cover; dustjacket; 309pp. Tight, VG or better copy in the original pictorial dustwrapper, unclipped, slightly rubbed at flap-folds; still an attractive VG+ example.

A satire on New Deal-era politics, in which three orphaned Iowa farm-girls come to Washington to help their uncle win election to the Senate. Interesting for its portrayal of strong women -- the girls' aunt is clearly the brains of the outfit -- at the helm of a political campaign; described by Blotner as "suffused with sweetness if not light." Iowa author. Uncommon, especially so in dustwrapper. HANNA 1794. BLOTNER p.373.

Price: $125.00
